Montana Electric Cooperatives Association (MECA), of which Ravalli Electric Coop (REC) is a member, opposes carbon pollution limits and the clean energy that would occur as a result. Our national representatives (Tester, Walsh, Daines) need to know that there are many members of Electric Cooperatives that support renewable energy.
MECA sends out their newsletter to co-op ‘members’ monthly. There is no place in this newsletter for ‘letters to the editor’ for coop members to speak up and have an influence on ‘our’ Association. There are recipes for members’ favorite dishes, drawings by co-op members children, hunting information, Air Force events, athletic events, etc. World, national and state energy information is rarely shared.
Climate solutions have at last been addressed by the EPA by issuing draft carbon pollution limits for power plants, the largest source of carbon emissions nationwide. Rural areas like ours can benefit by development of affordable, reliable renewable energy like wind and solar. We can all do our part to slow climate change. We must make it a priority.
Support EPA’s sensible limits on carbon pollution.
