I do agree with Don Baty that the fire department, park, school and irrigation district are a vital part of our small community. I disagree about the interlocking group of people that Mr. Baty says run these entities. Yes, some of us are on the same boards, but they are not conflicting, as we are all trying to improve our community.
Because the armchair quarterbacks of our community will not step up to the plate and volunteer for anything, some of us have to take on more of the tasks.
The number of hours we put in for training and safety for this are untold and at 2 a.m. when you need help you are the first to call us out. But when we need your help to get things accomplished to make us better, you are the one that listens to only one side of the story and do not get all your facts straight before you start whining about what is being done.
As part of this so called “interlocking group of people” I would like to have you explain how our interest and volunteering in our community is controlling and for our own narrow interest.
I say pull up your big boy panties, attend the meetings that go on in the community and get all the facts before you start mouthing off and start volunteering to help.
If you have all the facts in hand you may understand better and make better informed comments and decisions.
