Reward increased for tips on wolf poached in Burnt Fork

June 10, 2014 by Editor

Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials continue to seek tips on the wolf that was shot and killed in the Burnt Fork area of the Bitterroot Valley. The two year old male wolf was collared in Oregon in 2013 and had made its way through Idaho and the Big Hole Valley prior to arriving in the Bitterroot earlier this month. The wolf was found shot near a road between Sawmill Saddle and Ambrose Saddle in upper Haacke Creek. According to officials, the wolf’s GPS collar indicates that it was shot between 6 and 9 p.m. on May 31.

FWP offered up to a $1,000 reward from its TIP-MONT program for information leading to the conviction in the case. A private donation from Wolves of the Rockies has now bumped the reward amount to $3,500 for information that leads to a conviction in the case. Callers can remain anonymous and should phone 1-800-TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668).

Not even for $10,000.00 would I give up the name of anyone who poached a wolf. Our wildlife has a higher value then a wolf ever will.
