Former state legislator and small business owner Ray Hawk has announced his candidacy for a seat on the Ravalli County Commission. He pledged to put his vast budgeting and business experience in both the private and public sectors to work for the citizens of Ravalli County and to restore the people’s trust in the County Commission.
Local residents know and respect Hawk’s proven leadership, having elected him to four terms in the Montana House of Representatives. The conservative Republican lawmaker represented Ravalli-area citizens on the Montana House Appropriations, Business and Labor, Local Government, and Health and Human Services Committees in Helena. Hawk says that legislative leadership trusted his fiscal management skills so much that they made him House Appropriations Chairman of the Judicial Branch, Law Enforcement and Justice Subcommittee.
“I’m running to restore trust and sound fiscal management practices to our County Commission,” said Hawk. “In addition to my four terms in the Montana legislature dealing with complex issues in the state budget, I have 10 years of banking experience and 35 years as a small business owner in the antiques and auction business. I’m looking forward to putting my knowledge and proven conservative leadership to work for the people of Ravalli County once again.”
Ray Hawk lives in Florence with his wife Arlene and has two children and three grandchildren.
