Roy ‘Mr. Rainbow’ Thomas

November 19, 2013 by Editor

Thomas, Roy PhotoHamilton – Roy Thomas, “Mr. Rainbow”, 76, of Hamilton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 3, 2013. He was born on October 9, 1937 in Hamilton, MT and felt fortunate to be able to live here again for the past 17 years. He married Sheraleen Madsen (Sherrie) of Scobey, MT, on August 6, 1960 and they spent the next 53 years side by side, hand in hand – raising three daughters together. Roy was an amazing Husband, Father, Papa, Brother, Uncle and Man of God! Living for God was the #1 priority in every aspect of his life. He had a special gift of wisdom and the ability to touch people’s lives where they needed it most. His beautiful smile made you feel good all over and his sense of humor and infectious laugh made your day! He was “Uncle Roy” to far more people than just his family. Roy was with the Rainbow Rexair Company for 48 years. The number of people whose lives he touched through his work is unbelievable. He was always very active in every church he attended, in the many places they lived. He loved people and his heart’s desire was for them to know Jesus and to know they were loved.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, six siblings, three babies and one granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Sherrie of Hamilton; daughters, Jodie (Chuck Schmautz), Cindy (Steve Schmidt), Lisa (Roy Smith), all of Missoula, MT and 13 grandchildren; brothers, Gordan (Delorse), Newberg, OR, Ralph (Mary), Spokane, WA, Jerry (Karen), Vancouver, WA; sisters, Lucille (Charles Carney), Hamilton, MT, Shirley (Cliff Iverson), Missoula, MT; sister-in-law, Loretta (Jim Von Schriltz), of Billings, MT and many, many nieces and nephews – all loved by their Uncle Roy.
Visitation was held Sunday at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton. The funeral service and reception was held Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 at the Hamilton Assembly of God church, with Rev. John Weaver officiating. Private family interment took take place in Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
