Sally Ann Dickerson

September 17, 2013 by Editor

sally oldSally Ann Dickerson, 63, went to be with her loving Savior on Sept. 11, 2013 to await the glorious resurrection in the arms of her beloved Lord.  With God’s help she put up a valiant and tenacious battle against emphysema for 14 years.  She was surrounded by her family when the Lord came to gather her into His arms.

She was born to Dewey and Arlys Hoffman on June 21, 1950 in Deadwood, SD.  In 1961 the family moved to Hamilton, MT.  She attended schools there and was a Hamilton high school graduate.  She married Dennis Dickerson on Nov. 8, 1969.  After a short time in Great Falls, MT, they moved to Missoula, MT and in 1977 they made their home in Stevensville, MT.

She was blessed with the birth of her daughter Debbe in 1972 and her son Steven in 1974. She was confirmed in faith at Our Savior Lutheran Church- LCMS in 1978.  She was a member of LWML and very active in the church activities- Bible studies, bazaars, social events and fundraisers.  She owned and operated the Fabric Shed in Hamilton, MT for several years.  She enjoyed working with the public and sewing for people.  Crafting for all occasions was a favorite of hers.

She was granted five precious gifts from God in her grandchildren; Haley, Payton, Evan, Julia, and Jack.  She was an avid fan at all their events, basketball, volleyball, baseball, track, football and concerts.  Whenever and mostly wherever any of them were playing, she was there cheering them on.  She made her schedule fit around her grandchildren’s activities.  She will be greatly missed by teammates as well as other parents and fans.

Sally worked at her faith everyday with her actions and words of love and caring for “the love of her life” husband, the blessings of her children, mother, sisters, brother, nieces, nephews, friends, church family and very dear to her heart- her precious gifts from God- her grandchildren.  We will all love and miss her dearly and look forward to seeing her again in the presence of our loving Father in heaven.

Sally is preceded in death by her father, Dewey Hoffman.  Survivors include her husband, best friend and loving caregiver, Dennis, Stevensville; her daughter Debbe Dickerson, granddaughters Haley Tillotson and Payton Tillotson, Victor; her son Steven (Tracy) Dickerson, granddaughter Julia Battisti, and grandsons Evan Dickerson and Jack Battisti, Hamilton; her mother Arlys Hatfield, Hamilton; sister Susan Dickerson, Hamilton; sister Joan Brewer, Kenai, Alaska; brother Jeff (Dianne) Hoffman, Hamilton; and 3 nieces and 7 nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 17th at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Stevensville, MT.  Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Stevensville, MT. There will be a reception following the burial at Our Savior Lutheran Church.sally dickerson young
