Margaret ‘Peggy’ Riitano

August 22, 2013 by Editor

riitanoVictor – Margaret “Peggy” Riitano, 75, of Victor passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 at St. Patrick Hospital of advanced heart disease.

She was born October 11, 1937 in Oceanside Long Island, NY to Alphonse and Frieda Lambert. She graduated from Brentwood High School in New York and married Frank Riitano, her husband of 54 years, on December 6, 1958. After living in Connecticut, she moved to Victor with her family in 1976 and eventually became co-owner of Martin’s Inn from 1984 until 2000.

Peggy was an avid supporter of the Right to Life movement and cared deeply about the moral development of her children and this generation. Her faith in the Lord was unparallelled – there is nothing that she did or owned that does not profess her love of God in some manner. She loved others very deeply, her compassion was felt by many – dearly beloved by all who knew her.

Peggy was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband, Frank of Victor; a sister Phyllis Lambert of Victor; a brother, Donald Lambert of Florida; four children, David, Steven, Claudia and Lawrence, all of whom reside in Montana; five granddaughters, Candice, Christel, Stephanie, Rachel and Melisa whose closeness to her was a testimony to her love.

Visitation and a vigil service was held on Friday, August at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stevensville. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, August 17 at the church with Father Matthew Huber as celebrant. A reception for family and friends followed at the Victor Park.

Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
