I am writing to address the inaccuracies in the July 3, 2013 article titled “NV Library loses board chair, director.”
The article describes my resignation from the position of Director of the North Valley Public Library as mysterious and states that board members Joanne Charbonneau and David Anderson have no idea why I resigned. The letter of resignation that I submitted to all board members on June 28 outlined a number of clear and compelling reasons why I am no longer able to work for the library. The letter is a matter of public record and is available for anyone to see.
In the article, Ms. Charbonneau quoted me as saying, “I have locked the office, here are the keys, and I’m gone.” I’ve said nothing of the sort to Ms. Charbonneau or to anyone else.
The members of the library board are elected by the voters of the Stevensville and Lone Rock School Districts. They are charged with planning for the library’s future and managing the public funds that come to the library through a property tax mill levy. I am deeply troubled by the current board members’ apparent attempt to mislead our community’s taxpayers in last week’s article.
