Newly elected Congressman Steve Daines recently met with Ravalli County Commissioner Greg Chilcott in Washington, D.C. to discuss issues facing both Ravalli County and communities across Montana.
Chilcott, who recently entered his third term as Ravalli County Commissioner, serves as president of the Montana Association of Counties. Chilcott was also joined by Montana Association of Counties Executive Director L. Harold Blattie.
Daines, a member of the House Committee on Natural Resources, and Chilcott, a member of the National Association of Counties Public Lands Steering Committee, also discussed at length the importance of Montana’s abundant natural resources and the effects of federal and state policy on the state’s efforts to manage its resources.
“Montana is a unique state, and each county has a different set of needs,” Congressman Daines stated. “Today’s meeting with Commissioner Chilcott was a great opportunity to discuss the pivotal issues in our state so that we can begin working toward solutions to the challenges facing Montana. I look forward to working alongside Commissioner Chilcott to serve the people of our state and to protect our state’s resources.”
“Our state needs a strong voice in Washington, and I am confident that Congressman Daines will work to represent the interests of Ravalli County and all the people of Montana,” Commissioner Chilcott added. “I’m excited to work with Congressman Daines and look forward to seeing him bring some common sense ideas from Montana’s counties to Washington, D.C.”
