North Valley Pachyderm Club
The North Valley Pachyderm Club will meet Friday, January 4 at 12 noon at The Frontier Café, Hwy 93 in Stevensville. Guest speaker will be Alexandra Morton who will talk about what it’s like growing up and living under communism. The North Valley Pachyderm Club meets the first and third Friday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. at the Frontier Cafe. The North Valley Pachyderm Club is an educational arm of the Republican Party. All are welcome.
Knights of Columbus Fish Fry
The Knights of Columbus will hold their regular First Friday Fish Fry on Friday, January 4 from 5 to 6:45 p.m. at St. Francis’ Pastoral Center located at 411 S. 5th, Hamilton. This will be an excellent opportunity to start the New Year off by letting someone do the cooking for you! The meal consists of “all-you-can-eat” fish, fries, coleslaw, “Niezgodzki’s Mac n Cheese”, vegetables, dessert and soft beverage. The price for the meal is $10.00 per person; children under nine are free. Wine can be purchased separately. Everyone is welcome so come out, bring a friend and enjoy the evening. Eagles taco night
The Bitter Root Eagles Auxiliary will be serving Tacos and More on Friday, January 4 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge in Hamilton. The menu includes tacos and burritos with chili verde, quesadillas, flour and corn tortillas and taco salads. The public is welcome.
NVPL Film Noir Series
Experience the classic black and white style of Film Noir at the North Valley Public Library through the month of January. Every Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. the library will host a free film and casual discussion for film buffs, mystery lovers and anyone wanting to add a little suspense and intrigue into these dark winter nights. Child car seat clinic
Mildenberger Motors sponsors the Ravalli Safe Kids Child Safety Seat Fitting Station. Seat inspections are conducted the first Saturday of every month at this location. Lonie Hutchison along with Nick Hooper and others will be on hand to provide free seat inspections for anyone wishing to assure their child’s safety. They will be at Mildenberger Motors on Saturday, January 5 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling Lonie at 546-9640 or Nick at 381-1200. This is a great opportunity for parents and others caring for kids to find out if they are using their safety seats properly. Nearly 73% of child restraints are not installed or used correctly. Coffee is provided by Mildenberger Motors at this event, so come on by have a “New Year’s cup of care” and assure your loved one is safe.
Saturday Movie Matinee
The North Valley Public Library will show a free movie on the first, second and third Saturday of the month at 12 p.m. for a free movie matinee. in January, NVPL will be showing newer release movies that you may have missed on the big screen, or maybe they were so good you want to see them again! Stevi drivers ed course
Signups are underway for the next Stevensville driver education course. The course is open to any student who is at least 14-1/2 years old (by January 30, 2013) or older from Stevensville High school or a home school. Cost is $250. The first informational meeting of students at SHS is Monday, January 7 at 12:24 in high school room 103. Out-of-district and/or home school students may register by calling John Munk, 777-5539.
Florence Civic Club
Want to start off the New Year the right way? Want to be more civic-minded? Join the Florence Civic Club on Monday, January 7 at 7 p.m. at the Local Living Center, next to town Pump. The Civic Club meets the first Monday of each month to work on community projects such as the bike path, scholarships, community awards and more. For more information call Ann at 406-403-6491.
Hunter Education Classes
Missoula will hold one Hunter Education class in January and another in February. Schedules and online registration are available now at fwp.mt.gov. Follow links to the class schedule under “Education.” The first class will be held Jan 7-10 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. each evening with a field course and test on Saturday, January 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Or, students can elect to take a class Feb. 18-21 with a field course and test on Saturday, Feb. 23. Both of these classes will meet at the Fish, Wildlife & Parks office in Missoula (3201 Spurgin Road). January and February classes are limited to 20 students each. Additional classes, with unlimited enrollment, will be held in Missoula in April, with a full schedule to be announced in January. Classes are free, and a student must be at least 11 years old to be certified. Any person born after January 1, 1985 must present a Hunter Education Certificate in order to purchase a hunting license in Montana. Fly Fishers of the Bitterroot
The usual meeting of Fly Fishers of the Bitterroot has been postponed one week due to the holiday. On Tuesday, January 8, the group will meet at BJ’s Restaurant in Hamilton. From 6 to 7 p.m. there will be a social hour, with cocktails and dinner optional. The New Year will start with a program including club events and highlights along with photos of local and exotic places that have been submitted by the club’s many terrific fly fishers. This presentation has been put together by member Jeff Lowe. If you are not familiar with the club, and are interested in attending, call Dorreen for information at 363-0744.
Sons of Norway
Bitterrootdalen Lodge, Sons of Norway, will install officers for 2013 on Tuesday, January 8 at 5 p.m. at the home of Alan and Christine Waltz, on Carly Lane, off Lost Horse Road, south of Hamilton. Alan will provide an authentic German entrée, with members and visitors invited to bring a favorite side dish. There will also be planning for Culture Camp, January 25 and 26 in Hamilton. The public is always welcome.
Stevensville school board
The regular meeting of the Stevensville School Board of Trustees will be Tuesday, January 8 at 7 p.m. in the Stevensville Music Center Choir Room.
