Unfortunately, Ravalli county elections left a bad situation unchanged. Excellent candidates were not chosen by the electorate to unseat the five incumbent Ravalli County commissioners, whose abysmal record will continue to unravel in the months and years ahead, with “just a few missteps,” as commissioner Chilcott reassures us.
Like a dog with a bone, the five “deciders” are obsessed with “coordination,” which gives them access to, and influence on, any and all state and national levels of governance.
One agency they have yet to consider lies just above our valley, yet reaches to the stars and beyond. Yes! a seat at the table of NASA would open new doors and broaden the horizons of county coordination. Just think: a say on the new space vehicle, even a hop on some future flight, coordinating with astronauts from China, Russia, and elsewhere.
Having discarded a sensible alternative to their “coordinated” natural resource policy, the commissioners must be seeking new ways to “coordinate and conquer.” NASA is in flux. It is ripe for coordination. It is the commissioners’ chance to rise above petty local agencies, and go “dancing with the stars.”
