I have recently noticed several large signs that say “Vote …”and specify one party. This idea is the least democratic thing I have seen in some time. No one party has a lock on the best candidates for all elected positions. And, indeed, if we are to arrive at the best decisions for our county we need honest debate and diverse thoughts and opinions. Then we have a chance for a working democracy and effective outcomes.
The person, I feel, who represents this ideal for democracy is John Ormiston. He is very well known and respected in the county, which speaks to the many and varied positions of leadership and influence he has held for over 30 years in this valley. This is a man who operates above ideology and party rancor. He makes decisions based on facts while using collaboration. This is much needed given the varied problems facing our Ravalli County.
Simply stated, John is the best candidate for the position of County Commissioner, truly the reasonable voice and the rational choice.
