Support for Ormiston

October 9, 2012 by Editor

It has been my privilege over the past 15 years to work and become friends with John Ormiston who is running for a seat on the Ravalli County Board of Commissioners. Choosing county commissioners are probably your most significant votes and I strongly urge you to vote for John. He has demonstrated a considerable talent for listening to different viewpoints and finding the opportunity for agreement on difficult issues. His years of service in many volunteer activities evidence an impressive commitment to keeping the County a desirable place to live. As a career scientist with the Forest Service in the Valley he gained a thorough knowledge of the issues of forest management and its importance to the County as well as a commitment to decisions based on facts. He has served on the County’s Park Board and the Open Lands Board and has a good understanding of the role of the commissioners in efficiently providing important county services.

John is open minded and respects people and their concerns, but is not afraid to make the best possible decision with the realization that you can’t please everyone. John has no agenda beyond serving the best long term interests of the County. As I learned in my tenure as a county commissioner, it is a difficult but very important job. We are lucky to have someone with John Ormiston’s character and talents willing to take it on.
