A voice of reason

August 7, 2012 by Editor

Having gathered the required signatures to file for office, I am now an official candidate for County Commissioner, District 4. I am very grateful to all my supporters that have assisted me on the first leg of my journey to becoming your county representative. The words of one supporter in particular are rolling through my mind. She compared my city council experience to my current college goals and said I’ve completed all my prerequisites for serving on the county commission.

It is that experience that has given me the drive to run for county commissioner. My confidence comes from all my supporters. As an Independent candidate, I intend to represent all the voters of Ravalli County. Please be assured that I am a voice of reason and intend to stand up for this community.

First and foremost, we must present a balanced budget that provides all the essential services of county government. Poor decisions result in lawsuits and an enormous loss of revenue. The trickle-down effect of mismanagement impacts the county’s ability to provide for the health, safety, and welfare of all county residents.

Adequately funded county departments represent the workforce required to maintain a quality of life we all deserve. I feel blessed to live in Ravalli County and appreciate all the emergency services that keep this valley safe as much as I appreciate our city and county clerks who keep our local governments running efficiently.

I am running for County Commissioner because I care about the Bitterroot Valley. I’ve learned a tremendous amount about local government in the seven years since my election to Hamilton City Council, and I’m well qualified for the position.

I am asking for your support. Visit my facebook page “Vote for Nancy Joy Valk”, and vote for me on November 6th, 2012. I will use my experience to make wise decisions and govern responsibly.

Nancy Joy Valk
