The Bitterroot Red Sox came from behind to top the Missoula A Mavs in the first game of a double header last Thursday. After spotting the Mavs nine runs, the Red Sox broke loose in the bottom of the sixth inning and scored six runs to take the lead and win, 13-11. Trevor Zeiler hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Bo Zeiler for the tying run. On the next pitch, with the bases loaded, a balk was called on Missoula pitcher Austin Bohnack and the Red Sox had the lead. Bo Zeiler went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Steven Trautwein was 3-for-4 . Tuff Price was the starting pitcher for the Red Sox. He was relieved in the fifth inning by Tanner Lehr. Nick Switzer was the catcher.
The Red Sox took control early in the second game and went on to win, 15-5, in a five-inning game that was called because of the 10-run rule. David McCoy went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Jackson Olsen had a couple of RBIs and was 2-for-3 at bat. Jake Capko was the starting pitcher for the Red Sox. Kyle Crossman came in and relieved Capko in the fourth inning. Trevor Zeiler was the catcher for the Red Sox.
The Bitterroot Bucs were at the Spokane American Legion Wood Bat Tourney. They finished second in their pool play after losing to the Regina Athletics, 9-4, in their final game. Kadin Beller was the starting pitcher. Dylan Reed went 2-for-2 and scored three runs. Brad Schaff was 1-for2 with two RBIS. Austin Nogel was 1-for-1.
The Bucs defeated Gonzaga Prep on July 4th, 4-1. All four runs came in one inning ending a no hitter for the Gonzaga team. Beller had an RBI single with a broken bat. The other three runs came on passed balls with Riley Philips, Schaff and Beller all scoring.
The Bucs also lost to Eastlake, 4-1 and to the Post Falls Prairie Cardinals, 5-3.
