Stevensville streetscape project update

June 26, 2012 by Editor

Early in the week of June 25, Knife River will be completing the colored, stamped concrete at the northeast corner of 2nd and Main Street. On Monday, crews began the removals for the northwest corner of this same intersection, and the storm drain installation and pouring the new curb and gutter and sidewalk. The schedule is to complete the northwest corner by July 6. The end of the week of July 2, crews may begin the removals and storm drain work on the southwest corner of the intersection. During this two-week period, additional sidewalk removals and replacements along the west side of Main Street may also be performed, schedule and weather permitting. Temporary access to businesses will continue to be coordinated on a day-by-day basis during the upcoming phases to keep access available to the businesses to the extent possible.
Should you have any further questions, the construction team meets every Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Stevensville Main Street Office. All concerns can be addressed at 1 p.m. and then the construction meeting will follow. For more information call the Stevensville Main Street Association at 777-3773.
In addition, Jack May, Maintenance Chief, Montana Department of Transportation, advised that June 25 through June 29, the project from Highway 93 to the intersection of 203 and 269 (Main Street and the Eastside Highway at 1st Street) will be in progress. The project consists of milling the ends of the bridge over the river and then full width asphalt overlay from Highway 93 to the intersection of 203 and 269. Paving will begin on the morning of June 27 and is planned to be completed by the morning of June 29. Traffic delays should be expected.
The overlay through the town of Stevensville on Main Street will not start until approximately August 6.
