I am writing in regards to the upcoming election and the open seat for the Clerk of the District Court. I have been working in the District Court’s office for over seven years. I truly wish that this were an appointed position instead of an elected one as I think that most people really don’t have any idea what the Clerk does and what responsibilities go with the job. It’s easy to see signs on the highway or go to forums where there isn’t the opportunity to get to know the candidates, so I hope the insight here will help you in your decision when it comes time to vote.
As a taxpayer myself, I care a lot about government employees and if they are giving their all at their jobs. A strong work ethic in an environment that is not the public sector is extremely important. I encourage you to ask both women in our office that are running hard questions, I would encourage you to ask the Clerk in office now what her opinion is of the ethics that both women bring to the ballot. I am personal witness to both women that are running for office. I would ask, do you habitually show up to work late, call in sick excessively, do only the amount of work it takes to get by. How much time do you spend in the office, what are your job responsibilities that qualify you to run the Clerk’s office?
I have known Paige Trautwein for seven years, she has worked her way up through the ranks. She shows up to work on time, does not call in sick excessively. She is always looking for ways to improve the office, help others when she has caught up in her own duties. She took the initiative to get a degree in Criminal Justice and is very knowledgeable in how to answer very difficult situations that arise in our office on a daily basis. Her family supports her in her endeavors in her career. I would love to have a supervisor that I can respect and work with as a team. She works hard and will make sure that everyone else in the office gives it their all so the District Court’s office is run as efficiently as possible.

It is disheartening that tactics of this nature are practiced. I am saddened that people stoop to mud slinging and negative politics. The implied attack on my character and ethics are false. I would gladly answer any questions. My contact information is mopresswood@gmail.com or 406-327-5685.

I work in the Clerk of District Court office, and I agree 100% with Gina. BOTH candidates are qualified, and both have their good and bad points. There are two sides to every story, and everyone has their own opinions. Why does there have to be mudslinging?
Gina Williams says
The inter-office politics are muddying the voters waters. Put nine women in a office together and see how many come out liking each other. This has nothing to do with competence to do the job, this is about who’s on who’s side in the office and what they’ll get out of it.

Sounds like there are too many clerks in the office.
