Have you seen Dave?
Dave Smith who is running for Ravalli County Commissioner District 2 is not easy to miss in a crowd. He’s well over 6 feet tall and has a sort of sheepish grin. There’s a reason the locals call him Big Dave. He’s big but what’s more impressive is that he’s a strong person who has worked hard all his life here in the Bitterroot and has grown from those work experiences.
I have known Dave since 1977 when I first moved to Victor. When I needed heavy work done, I called on Dave Smith and he showed up on time with the energy and expertise to get the job done. He never slacked for a moment. I’ve spent many hours in Dave’s company since 1977 and I feel I know him well. He’s thoughtful, sincere, friendly, smart, fiscally conservative, and a great guy to have on your side. Politically, he is not an extremist, which I feel makes him somewhat unusual in today’s election climate and better qualified to help administer to the needs of the Bitterroot than any of the other candidates you are going to find on the ballot in the primary or the general election.
As far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t matter what party a person belongs to or what ticket a fellow runs on, she or he should be judged on their merits and ability to get the job done. On Election Day, take a minute to think about who you want representing you at the table down at the courthouse. Big Dave can stand up to the extremists, the self promoters, the crackpots and those who think they know better than we do what’s best for us.
