The Hamilton City Council approved on first reading on Tuesday, April 3, an ordinance redistricting ward boundaries. The map, it seems, was not exactly correct, but the council did determine that the legal description did appear to be correct. Special Projects Coordinator Dennis Stranger said that the written legal description would be the controlling factor. The council went ahead and approved the new districts unanimously.

The number of residents in each of the new districts is Ward 1 – 1,334; Ward 2 – 1,514; and Ward 3 – 1,500.

The Council adopted on second reading an ordinance amending the Hamilton Municipal Code to address payments for water use changing it from Public Works to Finance Administrator. The changes update the policy on returned checks and allows for payment agreements with renters even though the owner of the building is ultimately responsible.

The council agreed unanimously to fund the preliminary engineering report for the Fairground Road sidewalk improvements not to exceed $68,665. The insurance provision was increased from $300,000 and $1 million to $1 million and $2 million respectively.

The Council approved a contract with Great Western Park & Playground Equipment for Legion Park playground equipment including a swing set for a total of $64,445.60.

The Council also:

• confirmed the regular employment status of Susan Keizer as Accounting Clerk

• confirmed the regular employment status of Tony Wilmoth in the Public Works Department

• reappointed Chip Pigman and Ron Uemura to the Planning Board

• reappointed Corey Johnson, John Trangmoe, Ron Uemura and Vivian Yang to the Zoning Commission.
