Gas prices are rising at the pump and becoming the center of our national focus. Who gets credit for this unwelcome news? Suspects include Iran, the Straits of Hormuz, and of course the oil companies, flush with their billions in profits. But we need look no further than recently occupied Wall Street for the prime game changer. While our oil situation is the best in several years—we’re actually an oil exporting country at present—speculators in oil futures on good old Wall Street are causing the rise in prices at the pump. The president is pushing clean, alternative energy sources. But he can’t take credit, or blame, for our Wall Street “banksters” and their ruinous, if profitable, speculations.
This information on the current crisis affecting millions of the 99%, came not via the main news media, certainly not from Fox news. It came from Thom Hartman, commentator on Free Speech TV. This program is available on channel 9415 on Dish network. I called Thom yesterday on his talk program (866-745-2667) to thank him for his excellent efforts at objective news reporting and open line discussions. May I recommend this program to your readers who seek factual information on current affairs?
