Calling sin, sin is not evil. If it is Jesus was the greatest evil. Throughout the ages leaders who call sin what it is generate a lot of hate and it usually doesn’t end up well.
Not once did I say that I hated homosexuals and in fact said that God loves them and gave his Son’s life for them. Again, we should not hate or bully any sinner but we should understand what sin is and its consequences. God has spelled out what it is and given us His word so we can avoid the pain and heartache caused by sinful behavior.
Brad accused me of “damning to hell” homosexuals, trans-genders, pornographers and the like. I haven’t and can’t “damn to hell” anyone and am charged with not judging individuals, only guarding against and fighting sin.
Dr. Terry Moran and Dr. Michael P. Moran called me “rabidly homophobic” and “mean spirited” because I said that homosexuality in all its forms is sin. They revealed that their ultimate goal through PFLAG is to do away with all discrimination of gays including marriage. They would like to see the ban Montanans put in the Constitution to make marriage between one man and one woman done away with and apparently want to require youth groups to hire homosexuals. They want the schools to put “sexual orientation” into the hate crimes and bullying policies. Why? So it will be alright to hate some people but not alright to hate homosexuals? Leave the categories out and make it wrong to hate or bully anyone.
The most interesting letter from N. Scott accused me of being “misinformed” and my letter “lacking any real research” and then wrote that “discriminating against someone for . . . sexual orientation is in our nation’s Constitution for a reason.” You know I have read that document more than once and missed it! Just like I missed the part that allowed people to kill unborn babies. I don’t know if N. Scott knows it but our Founding Fathers believed that practicing homosexuals should be put to death as that was a law in all the colonies. Now before someone decides to write a letter claiming I feel the same, that is not true, but it does illustrate how far we have come on this issue.
What we need to do is make sure that truth wins and that we all understand that homosexuality and other “sexual orientations” are a choice (research shows that and there is nothing to prove otherwise). Now same sex attraction may not be a choice but hundreds of thousands have either decided not to participate in the sin and have learned to live happily as heterosexuals or abstain from sin just like God asks those to do who like to commit adultery or fornication.
The Catholic Church hired homosexuals as priests and that has made headlines. A man who was a famous coach in the east was a closet homosexual and ruined the lives of dozens of young boys.
Anyone interested in knowing more about the many thousands who have learned to live with same sex attraction and not violate the will of God are invited to go to the Positive Alternatives to Homosexuality website at: http://www.pathinfo.org/index2.htm. This organization is a coalition of organizations that help people with unwanted same-sex attractions (SSA) realize their personal goals for change — whether by developing their innate heterosexual potential or by embracing a lifestyle as a single, non-sexually active man or woman.
These organizations have worked with thousands of men and women and youth who have found peace and fulfillment by resolving their SSA feelings in ways that are emotionally healing, gender-affirming, congruent with their deeply held values and beliefs, and supportive of their individual life goals.
Some have transitioned out of a homosexual identity and lifestyle while others have avoided ever fully going into it. Some have married and have children of their own. Some have saved their marriages and families.
Again, let PFLAG do its thing. More power to them, however, let not their false beliefs that there is no way out of homosexuality stand. It is not true and to say it denies all scripture and the power of God and ends up hurting those they are trying to help in the long or short run.

I know I’m wasting my time pointing out facts to Mr. Erickson, but I’ll do it anyway. When he talks about priests and coaches molesting young boys that is pedophilia, not homosexuality. Pedophiles prey on sexually immature children. Whether or not those children are the same gender is irrelevant. Homosexuality is sexual attraction to mature individuals of the same sex. Most pedophiles (90% according to a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association) are heterosexual in their adult relationships. I’ll also add that in my personal experience that men that are as concerned about the “sin” of homosexuality as Mr. Erickson seems to be anti-gay b/c they are upset by homosexual feelings they have themselves. Just putting it out there. Maybe Mr. Erickson should look deep within himself to see the cause of his bigotry? Why does he care so much? Who are gay people hurting?
