The final weekend before the divisional tournaments in wrestling was a busy one for the valley’s grapplers. The teams were trying to get in a few more matches after missing a few matches last week due to the inclement weather. Corvallis was unable to compete the previous weekend at the Class A Duals in Lewistown. Hamilton and Florence were scheduled to compete at Florence that same weekend but that match was also canceled due to the weather.
Friday night, Dillon, Hamilton and Corvallis competed in duals in Corvallis. The matches were hard fought with several of the top wrestlers in the state matching up against each other. Corvallis’ Devan Williams matched up against Dillon’s Jake Lenegar in one of the top matches of the night. The two battled through two and a half periods before Williams prevailed with a pin at two and a half minutes into the final period of the match. Williams also pinned Hamilton’s Brady Morey at 1:39. Riley Nagel and Dilan Starker also had a tough battle with Nagel winning an 11-5 decision over the Dillon wrestler. Nagel also pinned Hamilton’s Zach Tompkins at 1:06. Hamilton’s Kyle Lubke picked up a couple of wins at 130 pounds. He pinned Caleb Caicedo of Corvallis at 2:18. He also pinned Dillon’s Cole Bruha at the 2:35 mark.
