Some things to consider

February 1, 2012 by Editor

Freedom-loving Americans want to live in a society in which the only limits set by government are those that contribute to our collective safety and protect our God-given liberties. We are smart enough to choose our profession, mode of transportation, housing, health care, insurance, right on down to what we want to eat.

Sadly, “big government” is anything but family friendly! The result being the politicians have turned our great bastion of freedom into a burdensome, bloated bureaucracy. Here was President Reagan’s interpretation: “There is a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as the law of physics: as government expands, liberty contracts.”

Consider these statistics:

• The cost for federal agencies to enforce over 160,000 pages of rules is more that $1 trillion per year (which exceeds all of the federal income tax collected in 2009.

• Government red tape costs more than $1.75 trillion per year, according to the National Federation of Independent Businesses.

• Federal workers earn salaries, on average, well above their counterparts in the private sector – up to 40% higher counting benefits. This excess costs taxpayers over $50 billion a year. This demolishes the widespread myth (promoted by federal bureaucrats, their unions, and other fans of big government), that these workers are sacrificing lucrative careers by becoming public servants). Sounds live a gravy train to me!

The following fact demolishes the myth that Republicans are the Party of No: The Republican-led House has already passed more that 14 job bills this year – but the Democrat-led Senate has rejected all of them but one.

Think about it.
