I have been out of town for a while and just caught up a bit on the news. Is it true that Greg Chilcott and Matt Kanenwisher of the County Commission, in the name of saving humanity, are going to load the woods with hunters, out of season (or in a newly created season) who will kill all those predators in the mountains and the Valley?
What a relief! We never needed those dollars that the tourists, who come to see wildlife and enjoy nature, brought here, did we?
Tourists bring in more money than any other source in our state, and our commission is threatening to scare them away!
I do hope that the orange-free hunters, trappers and baiters who will walk the hills unmarked and without orange will post notification for all else to beware. I also hope that the humanity Greg Chilcott is saving will have orange garments available to them at every motel and trailhead. Poison alerts for pets, who should also be protected in orange, should be posted throughout the county in this move to frighten those who see this as a commission takeover of the public lands in the county. Someone should alert the populace that a bear trap can kill a human.
I think it wise that all who enjoy the out of doors be aware of their danger and wear orange to be safe in the wonderful, wacky world of the commissioners.
There hasn’t been such an opportunity for Montana to garner bad publicity since the days of the militia!
