Choose to live and let live

February 14, 2012 by Editor

Due to an infuriating “opinion” I have just read, I’ve decided to share an opinion of my own. I cannot believe the absolute ignorance of anyone, living in this society, truly believing that a person’s sexual orientation is a choice!

In all reality, why would anyone choose a life style that apparently condemns you? Why would anyone choose to become a potential target of a hate crime? Choose to be bullied? Choose the chance of not being accepted? Especially throughout the school years, when social status appears to be all that matters, why on earth would someone subject themselves to such scrutiny? In all reality, you and I both know and believe with all of our hearts that God made us, all of us! God made all people: homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, black, white, copper, short, tall, blonde, brunette, brilliant, artistic, handicapped, and opinionated!

The only choice we make is what to do with this gift of life that we have received. I choose to live and let live, love one another, and to support all, including PFLAG, who choose to actively do the same. I proudly support and pray for those who dedicate their lives to make the lives of others better!

So to anyone that disagrees with there being some sort of law in place that protects non-heterosexuals from being harmed and having equal opportunities, I urge you to take what I have said into consideration. Imagine if the person being targeted in bullying was your child, grandchild, sibling, or best friend, what would you want their lives to be like?
