By David Cluff, Superintendent, Lone Rock School
Dear Lone Rock / Three Mile Residents,
Last winter Lone Rock School sponsored a series of Town Hall Meetings and gathered community members together to get their input on the school, the community and the direction the school and community should take. During these meetings a surprise topic of public interest showed up: people were curious about whether building a gym or community center was possible. As it turned out the bonds that the community has been paying for the elementary school will be paid in full at the end of June, 2012. This could mean that without any new taxes a gym or community center could be built by renewing the bonds that are being paid off.
The School Board and others are cautiously excited by this potential opportunity. To further explore the idea of a gym or community center being built they have organized a facilities committee. The School Board would like you to be part of this committee. If you cannot be part of the committee, the Board would appreciate any opinions, information or ideas that you have about building a functional new building for the school and the community. The initial facilities committee meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 7th at the school, and since we are hoping for a large turnout we will be having the meeting in the gym.
We look forward to seeing you, and better yet, we look forward to hearing from you at the meeting on Wednesday.
