Montana Food Bank Network will be holding a Mobile Food Pantry at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds on August 5, 2011 from 11:00am- 2:00pm. This distribution is in cooperation with the Ravalli County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is the nation’s largest fraternal benefit society and a Fortune 500 company which maintains a network of 1,364 chapters.
The Mobile Food Pantry is a program by which, MFBN, using its “gap analysis” determines areas of the state that are currently underserved and food distributions are scheduled for the community. Ravalli County has several food pantries serving the area, but has such a great need for supplemental food assistance that more help is necessary at this time.
There will also be information on a variety of programs available to clients including SNAP, WIC, and Summer Food outreach, as well as representatives from Healthy MT Kids and Early Head Start, helping to connect families with these valuable resources.
· So far in 2011 MFBN has completed five Mobile Food Pantries which distributed over 79,000 pounds of food.
· The last Mobile Food Pantry in Hamilton was in November 2010, where over 20,000 pounds of food were donated to 971 individuals.
· The Mobile Food Pantry program has proven effective in so many ways to rural communities, and completely relies on the charitable giving of all Montanans.
