Bucs split with Missoula A Mavs
The Bitterroot Bucs split a double header with Missoula last Friday. The Bucs won the first game 7-6 but lost to the Mavs, 2-0, in the final game.
In the first game, Austin Erler had an RBI and a double. Billy Hanna, Zac Blackstun and Dan Lockman had RBI singles. Austin Nogle was the winning pitcher for the Bucs with three K’s and five walks. Missoula hit back to back home runs to begin the game but didn’t score after the first two innings.
On Sunday, the Bucs were hosts to the Mission Valley Mariners and won both games. They defeated Mission, 5-1 in the first game. Justin Beierle pitched almost a complete game with Riley Philips coming in for the final out of the game. Beierle had five hits, six walks and four strikeouts. Coe Golden had a solo home run and was 2-for-4 at bat with two RBIs. Erler and Blackstun each had doubles as well.
Tommy Shepard was the winning pitcher in the second game which went 10 innings. The Bucs won. 6-5. Philips had a two run home run and was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Corbin Newbary was credited with the winning RBI with a walk off walk in the 10th. Lockman also had a double in the 10th inning.
The Bucs finished in second place in the district with a record of 33-25.
The Bitterroot Red Sox will also play in the district tournament in Libby this week.
