Victor – Tom (Tommy) Bishop, 69, of Victor, Montana, died on Monday, November 19 at home, following a short but intense battle with lung cancer.
He was born July 28, 1949, in Russellville, Alabama, to Guy and Dolly Bishop. He was the brother of Janet, Jim, Vicky, Bill, Frank and Angie. He steadfastly adored his family and their spouses, as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Tom graduated from Auburn University in 1972. A true “jack-of-all-trades,” Tom taught school, built homes, and finally found his passion in solar design. He worked for and later owned Sunelco Solar Company. Upon retirement, he continued designing solar systems for Axmen in Missoula.
In 1974, Tom married Nilda Soto. They moved to Montana in 1976. He transitioned into her family as a beloved son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and cousin, becoming a treasured member of his married as well as birth family. He was the proud father of Andrea Anderson of Corvallis and Amber Bishop-Kainu of Finland, and adoring grandfather of Cyrus and Kalie Anderson and Sade, Maya and Louis Kainu. He was a faithful member of Stevensville United Methodist Church.
Above all else Tom excelled at relationships. He was loving, caring and compassionate. All who shared with him in love are forever blessed.
There will be a memorial service for Tom on December 29, 2018 at the Stevensville United Methodist Church, 216 College Street, Stevensville, at 11 a.m. The family suggests any memorials gifts be made to the church for a new roof. Just write Tom Bishop on the memo line. Condolences may be left for the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
