SUMMARY:Friends of Fort Owen Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The annual meeting of the membership of the Friends of Fort Owen (501-3c) will be held on Saturday\, June 24\,  from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be served. All current\, former\, and prospective members are welcome\, as well as anyone who is just interested in learning more about Fort Owen State Park. \nMontana State Parks will give members a tour of the recent restoration work on the East Barracks. Much has been accomplished at Fort Owen State Park since the Friends of Fort Owen were incorporated in 2018. The group helped bring financial resources to Montana State Parks to build a new roof on the barracks\, held public events and adobe making demonstrations\, and assisted with the knowledge about how to restore an adobe building which is rare in Montana. \nNow that the original goals have been accomplished\, Friends of Fort Owen is seeking new board members to help chart a new path for the organization as the Park enters a new operational era. DESCRIPTION:Fort Owen “Mud Party” Interactive History Event for All Ages is Saturday\, September 18.\n\nFriends of Fort Owen invites the public to a “Mud Party” hands-on interpretive event on Saturday\, September 18\, anytime between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm at Fort Owen State Park in Stevensville.\n\nInterpretive stations will focus on the art and science of making adobe brick\, which is a rare building material for Montana. Bring the kids and be prepared to get your hands muddy and have some fun at Fort Owen State Park! The event will feature touchable examples of various types of adobe bricks\, as well as soil scientists and adobe and historic preservation experts to show how to look for clay\, what John Owen said in his journals about making adobe bricks\, what’s in them\, how to make them and how John Owen used them to build Fort Owen. DESCRIPTION:OULA Fitness Class will be held Monday\, January 27 from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. at Fort Owen Ranch\, Stevensville. OULA is an easy to follow\, high cardio\, dance fitness class for people of all abilities. It is a motivating hour of high-energy exercise to great music where participants are free to let it all out\, and dance free of judgment. Class taught by Alli Bristow\, certified OULA fitness instructor. Participants should dress light and comfortably with athletic\, running type shoes.
