DESCRIPTION:Bitterroot Audubon’s November meeting will feature a presentation on raptor rescue and rehabilitation by Brooke Tanner and Jesse Varnado from the Wild Skies Raptor Center near Potomac. These are the dedicated folks who provide rescue\, veterinary care and rehabilitation services for hawks\, eagles and owls injured in the Bitterroot and much of western Montana. They will discuss the history of Wild Skies and some raptor rehab stories\, current educational programs and plans for the future. Many of the birds they rehabilitate are injured by vehicle\, fence or window collisions\, lead poisoning from consuming bullet fragments\, domestic cats or intentional shootings. Many of these injuries are preventable\, and Brooke and Jesse will discuss ways to reduce wildlife injuries. \nThe Wild Skies presentation is scheduled for Monday\, November 18 at 7 p.m. at the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge Visitors’ Center on Wildfowl Lane north of Stevensville. DESCRIPTION:World champion fiddler Mari Black and her World Fiddle Ensemble will be teaching an afternoon of workshops at the Bitterroot School of Music\, followed by an evening concert. Workshops are open to all bowed string instruments (violin\, viola\, ‘cello\, and bass)\, all ages\, and all levels – the only requirement is that you are able to play three songs on your instrument (in any style; it doesn’t have to be three fiddle tunes). The Festival of Wreaths fundraising event will be held on Saturday\, November 23 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Party goers will experience the best of the Bitterroot with our almost famous delicious dinner hors d’oeuvres and decadent desserts buffet\, a no-host bar of wine\, beer and spirits along with some interesting games of chance and raffles of exclusive gift baskets and a booze wagon. The fun continues with a silent bid auction in the unique gallery of everlasting wreaths created by local artists and businesses and guests can shop for individually priced decorated fresh wreaths\, swags and many handmade gift items. These all make the perfect treat for yourself to start the holidays or will surely round out your gift giving list! Get into the holiday spirit and support your community animal shelter!
