DESCRIPTION:KG7SPL holds monthly meetings at 6pm\, on the first Monday of the month\, at Corvallis Firehall on the Woodside Cutoff road. The club has a weekly net starting at 7pm\, every Wednesday night\, on 146.580 simplex\, and then we move to the club’s 147.300 repeater (DSC 703). KG7SPL conducts monthly amateur radio testing\, fox hunts and a HF exercise called “Light Up the Firehalls. Club members participate in the ARRL Field Day in June\, and Winter Field Day in January. The club conducts Emergency Communications Training and provides radio coverage for the Corvallis Memorial Day Parade\, Darby Dog Derby\, Robert’s Run and other local events. Crude bathhouses built by early settlers in the 1800s gave way to ornate bathing resorts and social gathering centers. Montana’s most famous resorts – including Boulder Hot Springs\, Hunter’s Hot Springs\, Corwin Hot Springs\, and Broadwater Hot Springs – flourished and then faded from Montana’s landscape.\n\n\n\nWeek 2\nTuesday\, July 30\nLife at High Temperatures in Yellowstone’s Hot Springs\nLife on earth may have first appeared in hot springs—and now many plants and animals have adapted to live in hot springs in Yellowstone and beyond. There’s an amazing diversity of living inhabitants of hot springs\, including cyanobacteria\, fungi\, protozoa\, mosses\, crustaceans\, and insects.\n\n\n\nWeek 3\nTuesday\, August 6\nMedical Uses of Hot Springs in the Frontier West\nTestimonials abound on the curative power of thermal water. This lecture will share many of these stories and examine current research on the use of thermal and mineral waters for treating diseases and improving mental health and well-being.\n\n\n\nWeek 4\nTuesday\, August 13\nCapturing the Earth’s Energy for Space Heating and Power Generation\nMost of downtown Boise\, Idaho\, is heated with geothermal energy. And several of the buildings on the Bozeman campus of Montana State University are heated with geothermal energy. He will share information and stories about the history of bears in the Bitterroot and the more recent grizzly bear activity in the Bitterroot Valley. DESCRIPTION:Wings Youth Volunteer Program\nThe Wings Programs Equine Rescue & Sanctuary is starting a youth volunteer program that will run through the summer. Do you love horses and donkeys and want to learn more about caring for them? Wings is hosting young volunteers the 2nd and 4th Saturdays through August starting May 10. Young volunteers will spend two hours each session doing various ranch chores and projects and one hour learning about horses\, including horse handling\, exercise\, feeding and nutrition\, hoof care and grooming.\n\nVisit our website at www.wingsprograms.org/volunteers.html to fill out an application. A parent or guardian must accompany you on the first visit to sign paperwork. Sessions will go from 10am to 1pm.
