SUMMARY:Paper Theater: A Fantastical Forest Cut & Layered (Adult Craft)
DESCRIPTION:Paper cutting is a fascinating art form practiced in China and Japan\, Germany\, Poland\, and beyond. However diverse the styles\, techniques\, and traditions of the craft\, paper cutting around the world seem to have one thing in common: They usually feature creatures or scenes from folk or fairytales. \nIn the spirit of this tradition\, we will cut images from paper and layer them to create a multi-dimensional forest scene complete with mushrooms\, flora\, and a fantastical character or creature that you choose from among several options. All participants will use the same template but the colors\, textures\, and focal point you select make for an enchanting scene that is uniquely your own. \nThis is a 2-part class. Participants will need to attend both sessions to complete their project. You will automatically be registered for Part 2 of 2 on Thursday\, July 24 at 6pm.

This lecture will share many of these stories and examine current research on the use of thermal and mineral waters for treating diseases and improving mental health and well-being.\n\n\n\nWeek 4\nTuesday\, August 13\nCapturing the Earth’s Energy for Space Heating and Power Generation\nMost of downtown Boise\, Idaho\, is heated with geothermal energy. And several of the buildings on the Bozeman campus of Montana State University are heated with geothermal energy. This session will examine these projects as well as dozens of other examples of capturing geothermal energy for heating buildings\, downtown communities\, and greenhouses. We will also explore how geothermal resources are converted to electrical power through innovative new technologies\n\n\n\nWeek 5\nTuesday\, August 20\nInternational Thermal Spas and Geothermal Energy Projects\nThis session will take a global tour of hot springs resorts and geothermal areas around the world\, including the elegant spas of Central Europe\, the historic onsen resorts in Japan\, and the beautiful natural hot springs of Iceland.\n\n\n————————\n\n\nJeff Birkby\, Presenter\n\n\nJeff Birkby writes and lectures on the history and use of geothermal energy for electric power generation\, space heating and hot springs tourism.
