SUMMARY:Hamilton Intersection Closure – 4th Street @ State Street
DESCRIPTION:The intersection of 4th Street and State Street in Hamilton will be closed to through traffic from 3:00 P.M. Saturday\, August 15th to 7:00 P.M. Sunday\, August 16th.  During this closure adjacent property owners will continue to have vehicle access to their homes and businesses\, however vehicles will not be able to drive through the intersection of 4th Street and State Street.  The purpose of this closure is for Bike Walk Bitterroot\, a local non-profit\, to paint a new high-visibility crosswalk at this intersection. This closure will provide for the safety of Bike Walk Bitterroot volunteers and allow enough time for the paint to dry. This project has been approved by the City of Hamilton.  Questions can be directed to the City of Hamilton Planning Department at (406) 363-6717.

SUMMARY:Finding Montana with Ednor Therriault
DESCRIPTION:It’s been said that Montana could be sliced up into at least half a dozen states. The diversity of cultures\, economies\, topography\, history\, and a hundred other factors tends to dictate what kind of Montanan you are\, depending on where you live. Due to the vast distances between population centers in Big Sky Country\, important events from one region can go completely unheard of in another. Ednor Therriault shines a spotlight into interesting but not widely known subjects in every corner of the state\, bringing stories from one region to the people of another. Through stories\, images and even original songs\, he fosters discussion about the differences we celebrate\, but also the things we might be surprised to learn we have in common. \nTherriault’s first book\, Montana Curiosities\, covered roadside attractions\, unique events\, and a couple hundred weird people\, places and things across the state. Ten years and five books later\, he continues to explore the state and bring home interesting stories. Seven Montanas\, which was published in October\, 2019 by TwoDot\, drills down into each of the six regions of Montana to use a mix of journalism\, essay and personal commentary to profile the area and the people who live there. Under the pseudonym Bob Wire\, Therriault has written and recorded five albums of original music\, and traveled around the state for 25 years playing guitar in honky tonks and festivals\, entertaining crowds and picking up local knowledge along the way. \nSponsored in part by Humanities Montana.

SUMMARY:Montana Invasive Species Council
DESCRIPTION:The Montana Invasive Species Council (MISC) will hold its next meeting Thursday\, September 3\, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. virtually via Zoom.\n\nMISC members will review final expenditures for fiscal year 2020 and vote on budget allocations for the current fiscal year. The budget topic will include a discussion about how to deliver invasive species education and outreach in light of Covid-19\, travel restrictions\, and events taking place virtually. The Council will also review and take action on the final version of All-Taxa Rapid Response Guidelines that serve as a blueprint for developing species-specific response guidelines.\n\nPresentations from program leads will be provided for feral swine\, white-nose syndrome\, aquatic invasive species\, and terrestrial weeds. Other agenda items include MISC program updates on MISC sponsorship for the North American Invasive Species Management Conference and the Eastern Heath Snail Science Advisory Panel.\n\nMISC is a statewide partnership working to protect Montana’s economy\, natural resources and public health through a coordinated approach to combat invasive species. All MISC meetings are open to the public.
