DESCRIPTION:Stevensville’s unique history\, recreation\, businesses\, and attractions are showcased on a new Visitor Information Kiosk being constructed at Veterans Park in Stevensville (100 Main Street). The grand opening will be Wednesday\, July 31\, at 4 p.m. in Veterans Park. \nThe kiosk has been nearly two years in the making\, a cooperative effort between the Town of Stevensville\, American Legion Post #94\, Civic Club\, Garden Club\, Historic St. Mary’s Mission\, Friends of Fort Owen\, Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes Culture Committee\, Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge\, U.S. Forest Service\, Trapper Creek Job Corps\, Bitterroot Cultural Heritage Trust\, local businesses\, and the Stevensville Main Street Association (SMSA)\, which initiated and coordinated the effort. SMSA obtained more than $12\,000 in grant funds from the Montana Department of Commerce and Rapp Family Foundation\, plus contributions from local businesses and organizations\, to make it possible. \nThe kiosk has eight interpretive panels\, featuring Stevensville’s area attractions and activities\, it’s unique history from the Salish homeland to the present\, local business and industry\, events\, recreation\, and wildlife. The project purpose is economic and tourism development—a way to retain visitors so they will spend more time and money in the community. But it also is a source of pride for those who live here\, who appreciate the wonderful community of Stevensville. DESCRIPTION:Learn about an array of Space Telescopes and Rockets on Thursday\, August 1 at 5:30 p.m. at the North Valley Public Library. Dean Spieth presents an overview of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs)\, large launch vehicles (Saturn-Apollo moon rockets\, Falcon)\, and space telescopes. Space telescopes\, like DSP and SBIRS\, provide early warning of rocket launches all over the Earth. Other space telescopes are used to monitor the Earth environment (weather satellites\, ozone\, fire\, etc) or view into deep space like the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). Dean worked with rockets\, satellites\, and space telescopes for forty years\, first at the Rocket Propulsion Lab on Edwards AFB (today part of AFRL)\, then in the Denver area primarily at Martin Marietta (today part of Lockheed-Martin) and Ball Aerospace. DESCRIPTION:All male and female valley athletes in middle and high school are invited to the Marcus Daly Rehabilitation Center on Thursday\, August 1st\, or Wednesday\, August 7th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and to the Bitterroot Physicians Clinic South on Monday\, August 5th from 5 to 7 p.m. for the annual sports physical program. Hosting the sports physical clinics in both Hamilton and Darby helps to increase the number of students participating\, resulting in the school districts receiving more in donations.\n\nOver the past 11 years\, the Sports Physical program sponsored by Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital and Medical Providers has raised a total of $97\,500 for the valley’s school athletic programs. At all locations\, the cost is $25 per student and 100% of the proceeds will be donated back to the students’ school athletic program. Cash or check only\, payment is due at the time of visit\, no refunds.\n\nAll participants must have a sports physical form. They are available at medical clinics or through your coach; or online at www.mdmh.org/events. Parents must fill out and sign the sports physical form and accompany their child at the examination. DESCRIPTION:All male and female valley athletes in middle and high school are invited to the Marcus Daly Rehabilitation Center on Thursday\, August 1st\, or Wednesday\, August 7th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and to the Bitterroot Physicians Clinic South on Monday\, August 5th from 5 to 7 p.m. for the annual sports physical program. Hosting the sports physical clinics in both Hamilton and Darby helps to increase the number of students participating\, resulting in the school districts receiving more in donations. \nOver the past 11 years\, the Sports Physical program sponsored by Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital and Medical Providers has raised a total of $97\,500 for the valley’s school athletic programs. At all locations\, the cost is $25 per student and 100% of the proceeds will be donated back to the students’ school athletic program. Cash or check only\, payment is due at the time of visit\, no refunds. \nAll participants must have a sports physical form. They are available at medical clinics or through your coach; or online at www.mdmh.org/events. Parents must fill out and sign the sports physical form and accompany their child at the examination. The physical includes height\, weight\, blood pressure\, pulse\, vision\, evaluations for posture\, joints\, strength\, flexibility\, heart\, lungs\, abdomen\, ears\, nose\, and throat. \nMarcus Daly Medical Staff members donate their time to make this program possible.
