The format is a five-person scramble and the cost is $70 per person including lunch following the round. All proceeds from this tournament stay in the Bitterroot and help fund the Bitterroot Winter Special Olympics held in January at Lost Trail Powder Mountain. There are three areas of the competition that are evenly scored: Interview\, Evening\, and Fitness. Most of the contestants compete in the pageant to gain confidence\, work on their public speaking skills\, and be pushed outside of their comfort zone. The state winner represents Montana at Miss USA televised on Fox and Miss Teen USA\, which will be streamed online. Furthermore\, the state winner receives cash prize\, scholarships\, photoshoot\, and products.

DESCRIPTION:Bitterroot Audubon will meet Monday\, September 16 at 7 p.m. at the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge Visitors’ Center on Wildfowl Lane north of Stevensville. The meeting will feature a presentation on efforts to reduce waterfowl mortalities at the Berkeley Pit in Butte by Gary Swant\, well-known outdoor writer and educator. Gary will describe the innovative and mostly successful work of the Berkeley Pit Waterfowl Mitigation Committee and partners in monitoring waterfowl and reducing waterfowl deaths in the toxic waters of the pit following the deaths of 3\,000 to 4\,000 snow geese there in 2016. He will also discuss the Warm Springs Wildlife Management Area and how waterfowl numbers there affect numbers at the pit. There is no charge\, and the public is invited. DESCRIPTION:Bitter Root Back Country Horsemen host their monthly meeting on Thursday\, September 19th at the Corvallis High School Library. Potluck dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the general meeting starts at 7 p.m. (To reach the library go through the main high school doors at the end of Main Street. The library is directly ahead.) Program speakers are Karen Philips and Eva-Maria Maggi. In August\, these members traveled to the Bob Marshall Wilderness and the Chinese Wall and will tell the story of their adventure along with a short slide show. BCH is a “boots on the ground” volunteer organization that works hard to keep trails clear and accessible for riders and hikers alike. They welcome guests and new members.
