DESCRIPTION:A community fundraiser for the family of Trooper Wade Palmer will be held on Saturday\, April 13\, 2019\, from 11 am to 3 pm in the Super 1 Foods parking lot.  \nMontana Highway Patrol Trooper Wade Palmer was shot multiple times recently in Evaro and remains in critical condition in a Salt Lake City hospital. Trooper Palmer and his family live in Stevensville\, his wife works at Family Pharmacy and his kids attend school there. The community fundraiser is being coordinated by Stevensville Family Medicine to directly benefit Trooper Palmer and his family. \nThere will be hamburgers\, hot dogs\, sides and drinks for $5 a plate\, a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. Participants are encouraged to “Back the Blue\, Wear the Green” at the event. \nCommunity Medical Center and Super 1 Foods are donating the food and a professional grill chef so that 100 percent of donations will go directly to the family. \nIf you would like to donate a gift basket or gift certificates\, contact Jill at CPG Stevensville Family Practice at 777-2775.

DESCRIPTION:For Women Only\nIntroduction To Defensive Handguns \nApril 20 & May 4 2019 \nThis 2 day course is for women with little or no experience with handguns\, who may be frightened of handguns or who are considering acquiring a handgun.\nThe first day course is designed to assist you in choosing the right handgun – for you. It will also introduce you to the facilities of the Whittecar Range. \nThere will be discussions on handgun safety\, basic operation of revolvers\,\nsemi-automatic handguns\, and the cartridges used in each type of\nhandgun. \nThe legal aspects of the use of force will be presented and discussed. \nHandguns will be provided so that you may handle the different types and\nmodels. Ammunition will also be provided for a live fire session on the\nrange. A self defense book\, specifically for women\, will also be provided. \nThe second day course will teach basic defensive shooting using the\nstudents own equipment. Safe gun handling will be taught and stressed.\nWe will discuss various types of ammunition and the performance of\neach type. \nThe class will be held at the Whittecar Range on Blodgett View Road.\nThe class is limited to 10 participants.\nFor an application or further information call Lee at 642-3590 or Jim\nat 777-5779. \nSuccessful completion of this two day course meets the requirements for\napplication to the state for a concealed carry permit.

DESCRIPTION:ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION OFFERS COMMUNICATION  PRESENTATION IN STEVENSVILLE \nFree community presentation provides insights into communication strategies for Alzheimer’s and dementia caregivers \nThe Alzheimer’s Association is hosting a free informational community program\, Effective Communication Strategies\, on Thursday\, June 13 at North Valley Public Library at 208 Main St. in Stevensville from 5:30 – 7:00PM. \nIndividuals living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia often experience changes in communication and behaviors that can be confusing to friends and family. For caregivers\, learning to decode messages through attitude\, tone of voice\, facial expressions and body language can help all involved to connect and communicate in meaningful ways throughout the duration of the disease. \nAttendees will learn: \n\nThe communication changes that take place throughout the course of the disease.\nHow to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia and respond in ways that are helpful to the person.\nHow to identify strategies to connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.\n\nThere is no cost to attend\, but RSVPs are requested to the Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline at 800.272.3900. \nThe Alzheimer’s Association \nThe Alzheimer’s Association Montana Chapter\, based in Billings with volunteers throughout the state\, is the leading source of information and support for the 21\,000 Montanans living with Alzheimer’s dementia and all those living with related dementias\, as well as their 50\,000 family caregivers. \nThe Alzheimer’s Association provides education\, care coordination\, counseling and resources.
