Women’s Ice Fishing Workshop

The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program is hosting an ice fishing workshop January 24-25 in Missoula, and registration is open now.
The workshop starts with an indoor class from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24 at FWP’s Missoula office (3201 Spurgin Road). Participants will then ice fish from 9a.m.-12p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Frenchtown Pond State Park.
This class is for beginning to intermediate female anglers who want to learn the basics or improve their ice fishing skills. Participants will learn to use ice fishing rods, tip-ups, ice augers and sonar fish finders.
 Registration forms are available online at fwp.mt.gov by following links to “Education,” and then “Becoming an Outdoors Woman.” For more information, call Sara Smith at (406) 444-5280 or email Sara Smith at: SarSmith@mt.gov.
Participants do not need a fishing license. The class is $15, and all ice fishing equipment and supplies will be provided. Participants must be at least 18 years old.
 FWP’s Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program is designed to introduce women to outdoor skills such as fishing, shooting, archery, survival and canoeing, and more information is available online at fwp.mt.gov/education/bow/.
