Chantilly Players Board President steps down

In 2001, local business owner Jeff White took an interest in the Chantilly Theatre which, at that time, was still recovering from the devastating fire of 1999. He offered to head up a working board of directors and began to conduct regular board meetings. White structured the board on non-profit corporation standards and built a team of committed members who became focused on putting the theatre on a stable financial footing through planned public relations and fundraising efforts. In consultation with theatre founder, Gretchen Spiess, White began reorganizing the theatre's operations so that volunteer managers could eventually assume various components of the theatre's workload. Efforts underway to form Cemetery Districts

Efforts are underway to form several Cemetery Districts in the valley. Following a pronouncement by Deputy County Attorney James McCubbin, late last summer, that county funding of "private cemeteries" was not legal, the County Commissioners excluded the countyıs cemeteries from their most recent budget. Since then, McCubbin has amended his opinion to allow county funding for a few cemeteries that are associated or "contiguous" with municipalities. This means the county will continue to fund the Hamilton city cemetery and two cemeteries in or adjacent to Stevensville. This leaves the countyıs remaining cemeteries with no other option but to create Cemetery Districts, approved by local voters, to receive public funding through the establishment of mill levies. Stevi and Lone Rock School Districts consider boundary changes

The Stevensville and Lone Rock School Districts are currently considering a complex exchange of land that would alter the districtıs boundaries allowing school age children living up the Burnt Fork in the Iron Cap Drive area to attend Stevensville School rather than having to take the long route down the hill and then back up the Three Mile drainage to attend the Lone Rock School.
