The Montana Sportsmen’s Alliance would like to let the voters of Ravalli County know that we have endorsed Pat Connell running for Senate in District 44 in Ravalli County. With the passage of HB354 last legislative session, Pat has represented Ravalli County voters well. Pat’s bill, the “Fire Suppression Fund”, which established a way for funding firefighting through reducing state spending, already has saved Montana taxpayers nearly a $12 million tab for the Lolo Fire itself.
His work to protect Montana management of Sage Grouse against a federal ESA listing has been much appreciated by us, and should be by those industries that rely on lands critical to the future of sage grouse in Montana.
Sponsoring the interim study to analyze Fish & Hunt License structure is very important to the sportsmen of our state. We hope that money shortages that would cause poor management decisions being placed on our wildlife will be avoided with the work this group did.
We at the Montana Sportsmen’s Alliance urge all the people of Ravalli County to take a good hard look at what the candidates bring to the plate this June. We need good people in office now more than ever.
