Doris Marie Marjerison

April 22, 2014 by Editor

Stevensville – Doris Marie (Sorenson) Marjerison, 64, of Stevensville, passed away on March 31, 2014 after living her life with cancer forMajerison, Doris Photo the last 13 years. She was born on May 20, 1949 in Dillon, Montana, the daughter of Elmer and Thelma Sorenson. Doris was raised in Dillon, Twin Bridges and Butte, Montana, and Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated from Butte High in 1967 and earned her associate degree in Business in 1994.
On July 6, 1968, Doris married Jack Marjerison of Plains, Montana, and from that union two sons were born, John Allen of Columbus, Montana and Jason Elmer of Belgrade. Six grandchildren followed: Jacob, Braden, Tristan, Dalton, Karsen and Jerrika followed by the recent addition of Chase and Talyn.
Doris worked at a variety of jobs over the years including waitressing, banking and retail as she and Jack moved around the country following Jack’s mining and construction work. She was particularly proficient in the retail field where she ascended to multiple management level positions and received awards for leading in sales and loss prevention.
As strong a performer as Doris was in her work life, her first priority and greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. Attendance and enthusiastic support at athletic events, plays and award ceremonies were very high priorities. On one occasion her support was so enthusiastic she almost disqualified a wrestling son by getting on the mat. Her voice could frequently be heard above the roar of the crowd. She was always the “go to” for her parents and siblings when they were experiencing tough times or fun times and although she might deny or avoid it, was usually in charge. She eagerly welcomed the arrival of many grand nieces and nephews, the most recent only a few days before her passing. Doris was known for “adopting” grandchildren, sending out birthday cards and gifts and getting new pictures of them from around the country were always high points.
Doris was a quilter. The number and variety would be difficult to catalogue but have been gifted to many friends and family over the years and they continued to grow until shortly before her passing. There were several prize winners and many more stunning specimens that were never entered in competition but were sewed and given with love.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 11 a.m. at the Daly Leach Memorial Chapel, 1010 West Main Street, Hamilton, Montana. The family suggests memorials be made to Mountain Home Montana, at 2606 South Avenue West, Missoula MT; Camp Make a Dream at Box 1450, Missoula MT; or the Clothes Closet/Pantry Partners in Stevensville. Condolences for the family may be left at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
