Warren E. Herbert

April 8, 2014 by Editor

Florence – Warren E. Herbert, age 85, died at home with his family Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Florence, MT. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5125 US Highway 93 South, Florence MT.
Warren was born on March 8, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Roland and Catherine Herbert. He was the oldest of five children. As the oldest, he took responsibility for some of the care of his younger brother and three sisters. As he grew up, he enjoyed playing baseball, sailing, golf, and playing the piano.
Warren married Carol Scholl on March 16, 1951. He graduated from Ohio College of Podiatry. He went on to work for Wesley Jessen Contact Lens company, setting up an office first in Ohio, and then made the move to New Jersey, where he was regional manager for offices on the East Coast.
Warren then quit his full-time work at the age of 43, and he and Carol moved from New Jersey to Marysville, Ohio, where they assisted a small congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. There he enjoyed volunteering his time as a full-time minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses for about six years. In 1979, Warren and Carol moved to Lolo, Montana, to be close to their children and grandchildren.
Warren devoted much of his time and life to assisting others to learn about the Bible truths that he viewed as precious. He was known as someone who knew his Bible well and used it effectively to teach and comfort others.
Warren also enjoyed faceting gemstones, watercolor painting, astronomy, and traveling with his wife, Carol, to places throughout the western United States. They especially liked the Oregon Coast, Glacier Park, and walking with their dog in the Lee Metcalf Refuge. They enjoyed travel, taking trips to England, Israel, Alaska, Hawaii, and Mexico. He enjoyed playing the piano, and music was always something he and Carol enjoyed doing together.
Warren has always been known for his appreciation for life, the beauty of the creation around him and being generous with his time in helping others. Those who knew him knew he had a fondness for sweets, particularly apple and cherry pie, chocolate chip cookies, and liked to eat his carrots in carrot cake.
Warren and his family appreciated the help and care for both him and his wife, Carol, provided by the staff of Aspen Hospice. The women who came to help showed personal interest, compassion, concern, and a sense of humor.
Warren was preceded in death by his wife Carol of 62 years, brother Russ Herbert, and sister Karen Lime. He is survived by his sisters Denise Mraz of Ohio, Lois Staresina of Indiana, son Mark Herbert and wife Chris, daughter Gayle Scott and husband Bruce; four grandsons, Jamie Herbert and wife Cassie, Ryan Scott, Evan Scott and Jesse Scott along with his wife Jill, and his great grandsons Jaegar and Jaston.
Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
