Arthritis Foundation Program
Do you have concerns about exercising with arthritis? Do you need help learning about how to exercise safely and effectively? Then the Arthritis Foundation Exercise and Walk with Ease Programs offered at the Marcus Daly Rehabilitation Center are designed for you! These programs are specifically tailored to assist people who have arthritis get exercise to help reduce pain and improve their overall health, but you don’t have to have arthritis to participate!
You can still get in on the Arthritis Foundation Exercise program which started April 7and meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for eight weeks. It includes health education, exercise and relaxation activities. Cost is $56.
Walk with Ease started April 8and meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for eight weeks. Classes include different health education topics, warm-up and cool-down exercises, stretches, walking and a physical activity log book to track progress. Cost is $54.
Each class is limited to 15 participants, so call Marcus Daly Rehabilitation Center at 375-4570 for availability. You may take both classes simultaneously.
Stevensville Garden Club

‘Helping Adolescents Cope with Loss’ class
A presentation focusing on issues that adolescents face as they cope with loss will be held Thursday, April 10 from 12 to 3 p.m. at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital in conference room B. “Living with Grief and Helping Adolescents Cope with Loss” is a live streaming video webcast presented by the Hospice Foundation of America. Marcus Daly Hospice offers this to the public at no charge, thanks in part to a grant from the Hospice Care Foundation of Missoula. Lunch is provided. Continuing education credits are available. Mindfulness class
An evening of Mindfulness exercises and Tai Chi will be offered on Thursday, April 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Common Ground Center, 260 Roosevelt Lane, Hamilton. Lutheran schedule
Our Savior Lutheran Church of Stevensville welcomes members of the community to join the congregation in many opportunities to worship at this holiest time of the Christian calendar.
The final Vespers service will be held Thursday, April 10 at 7 p.m., preceded by a soup and sandwich fellowship supper.
Sunday, April 13 is Palm Sunday. The congregation will gather in the narthex at 9 a.m. to enter the sanctuary with palms in hands, singing praises to Christ who offered Himself as the Lamb to be sacrificed for our sins.
Maundy Thursday, April 17 at 7 p.m. the congregation will celebrate when the Lord gave His supper on the night when He was betrayed. There will also be extended preparation of confession and absolution.
On Good Friday, April 18, there will be a Tenebrae Service of Darkness at 7 p.m. Candles are gradually extinguished and the sanctuary is darkened as Christians remember Christ hanging on the Cross to save them.
A vigil of Easter will be held on Saturday, April 19 at 7 p.m. There will be a candle ceremony leading into the sanctuary and a remembrance of Baptism in this very ancient service handed down by the Church fathers long ago.
The celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord from the dead is held on Sunday, April 20. The Easter Sunrise Service begins at 6:30 a.m. This is followed by the Easter breakfast prepared and served by the congregation’s youth and an Easter egg hunt for the children. A 10 a.m. Divine Service follows.
Our Savior, affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, is located at 184 Pine Hollow Road. One mile south of the intersection of Middle Burnt Fork Road and the Eastside Highway, turn east on Pine Hollow, cross the tracks and the canal. The church will be on your left, marked by the three crosses of Easter.

Selway-Pintler Wilderness Back Country Horsemen
If you are a horseman/horsewoman and you want to ride new trails and help maintain them, attend the Selway-Pintler Wilderness Back Country Horsemen’s next meeting, which will be held on Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hamilton Forest Service building, 1801 N 1st St. Entry is in the rear. The SPWBCH is a friendly, hardworking group of volunteers dedicated to preserving the common sense use of horses in the backcountry. Discussions will include summer trail work, scouting rides, pack trips and highlights from the BCH of MT State Convention. BPL Fellowship Club

Darby Library anniversary events
The Darby library would like to welcome the community to celebrate with it as it begins its tenth year as the Darby Community Public Library. This year’s celebration begins with National Poetry Month and National Library Week in April. In celebration of National Poetry Month, the Darby library is pleased to display local poetry from young and old throughout the library and is encouraging all community members to submit their original poetry for the month-long display.
National Library Week is April 14th-19th with special events for all ages. The annual Cowboy Poetry event will be held Tuesday, April 15, the family Bedtime Math PJ Party is on Thursday, April 17at 6 p.m., and the annual Community Easter Egg hunt will be held on Saturday, April 19at 11 a.m. in Tin Cup Park.
Cowboy Poetry starts a weeklong celebration on Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m.. All are welcome to enjoy the poetry of locals Verna Molenda, Dominic Farrenkopf, Ned Trowbridge, and very special guest Doug Hogan, Cowboy Singer and Poet (montanacowboysinger.com). Cowboy grub and music will begin at 6:45 p.m.
The Bedtime Math PJ Party will be held in the library on April 17at 6 p.m. All families and children ages 3-9 are welcome to have fun with math and see how easy it is to explore math at home as a fun bedtime activity. Families will make mystery clocks, animal zip lines, and see how fun math can be. Door prizes and refreshments will be included in the event. Every family, registering early for this free event, will receive the new Bedtime Math book by Laura Overdeck. Finally, bring your Easter basket and join in the Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19 at 11 a.m. All children ages 2-7 years are welcome to participate in the hunt for eggs and prizes. Community members donating colored hard boiled eggs may take them to the library on Friday after 4 p.m. or to the park on Saturday at 10 a.m.

First-Time Homebuyer class
The Bitter Root Resource Conservation and Development Area, Inc. (Bitter Root RC&D) will hold its next nationally-certified First-Time Homebuyer Group Education class April 14-16 from 6 to 9 p.m. (each night) at the Human Resource Council Building, 316 N. Third St., Hamilton. Attendance on all three nights is required for certification. The charge is $50 per household to cover instruction and materials. Attendance also entitles participants to free individual financial counseling and post-purchase counseling. Sara Ann Briggs will be the instructor. Briggs is also certified to offer one-on-one counseling to first-time homebuyers. This new service means that those who request additional counseling or are required by HUD for this follow-up program can now do it right here in Hamilton rather than in Missoula or on the phone. The class will help novice homebuyers maneuver through the entire process of homeownership. Although available, using an alternate certification method such as online course completion is being highly scrutinized by HUD and should be considered the last alternative. St. Mary’s Mission opening
Historic St. Mary’s Mission in Stevensville is a historic and treasured site that plays a prominent role in the history of Montana. The Mission, museum, and beautiful grounds, with the Bitterroots in the background, are truly a site worth visiting. The public is invited to Opening Day on Tuesday, April 15 with a Mass celebrated in St. Mary’s Chapel at 10 a.m. followed at 10:45 by a flag raising ceremony, refreshments, and guided tours of the Mission complex. Visitors will also be able to view the century-old C.T. Farlin painting of Stevensville and Fort Owen on loan from the American Legion Fort Owen Post 94.
RCEDA
Ravalli County Economic Development Authority will hold its regular monthly Finance Committee meeting on Tuesday, April 15 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, April 16 from 3 to 5 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the RCEDA office, 274 Old Corvallis Road, Hamilton. DCPL cowboy poetry event
Montana’s cowboy poet and singer, Doug Hogan, the “dirt cowboy in a four lane world,” is the special guest of the Darby Community Public Library on Tuesday, April 15 at 6:45 p.m. as the library celebrates both April’s Poetry Month and the National Library Week. Come experience the artistry of the Bitterroot’s own Verna Molenda, Ned Trowbridge and Dominic Farrenkopf, seasoned local cowboy poets, who will present their own work as well as introduce new poets to this annual library event. Poetry lovers will also want to visit the library to read the poems, written by poets both famous and not so famous, displayed around the library. Refreshments will be served.

The Daly Mansion Preservation Trust Board of Directors will hold its quarterly meeting on Wednesday, April 16 at 3 p.m. at the Daly Mansion, 251 Eastside Hwy in Hamilton. The Daly Mansion Preservation Trust is a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is “dedicated to preserving and interpreting The Daly Mansion, its buildings, grounds and the history they convey.
