Kate Stone will speak at the April 17 Bitter Root Back Country Horsemen meeting on the ecology and identification of Bald and Golden Eagles that are found throughout the Bitterroot Valley and that you may encounter on a hike or trail ride. She will explain common identification pitfalls, tips and tricks for identifying at a distance, clues to help narrow down which species you see, habitat needs, and current challenges to both species. Kate is an ecologist at MPG Ranch, where she leads the Avian Science team. She is a long-time board member of Bitterroot Bird Alliance and serves on the Ravalli County Open Lands Board. Bitter Root Back Country Horsemen is a volunteer organization that works to keep trails open for the public. The meeting takes place at the Corvallis Primary School Cafeteria on Eastside Highway in Corvallis, with potluck dinner served at 6:30 p.m. and the general meeting starting at 7:00 p.m. Guests are welcome, and for more information check out the website at www.bchmt.org/bitterroot.
