Despite the smoke, the Stevensville boys soccer team is having a great season according to longtime coach Ralph Serrette. He said his team picked up two ‘nice’ wins against Hamilton and on Thursday, they played a tough Frenchtown team to a 1-1 tie. Overall the team has had four conference wins, one loss and one tie. They have also lost two non-conference games and won two.
When asked about the success of his team, Serrette replied, “in the past we used to have a single player that we’d focus on, now it’s a team trying to get the ball to the back of the net.”
Stevensville’s only goal came in the 28th minute when Sam Giese took a Joseph Daniels assist and booted it to the back of the net. Stevensville’s keeper, J.J. O’Bannon, had five saves.
Corvallis defeated Loyola, 4-0, on Thursday. Four players scored for the Blue Devils. D.J. Pekoc had an assist from Kyle Campbell at the two-minute mark for the first goal. Cameron Ayers had an unassisted goal at 29 minutes. Nolan Grenfell scored off of a Josh Venema pass at 36 minutes and Kaiam Syester scored off of a Pekoc assist at 55 minutes. Luke Canner had one save for Corvallis.

Frenchtown ended any hopes of a playoff berth for Stevensville with a 3-2 win over the Yellowjackets. Brooke Constantino tied the game at 1-1 when she hit an unassisted goal at 34 minutes. She scored again off of a penalty kick just eight minutes later. Stevensville’s Evie Tiplady had three saves on goal.
Corvallis took a 4-1 win over Loyola. Ayden Eickhoff had three goals for Corvallis. Erica Allen capped her Senior Night with a goal and Corvallis keeper Roxy Rademacher had seven saves.
