The boys and girls soccer teams from Corvallis hosted Hamilton on Saturday, October 7th to end the regular season. The Corvallis boys defeated Hamilton 2-0 to clinch the South’s #1 seed. In this game, Corvallis’s Enzio Monnier had two goals with assists from Jack Hannsen and Peer Arnold.
The Hamilton girls defeated Corvallis 6-1 and are the South’s #1 seed in the State playoffs. For Hamilton, Hannah Hughes and Anna Lewis each had a brace, while Taylor McCarthy and Greta Gantz each had a goal. For Corvallis, Farah Wyche scored a goal on a PK.
On Tuesday, Oct. 3rd the Corvallis boys went to Libby and won 1-0, getting a goal from Enzio Monnier. Also on Tuesday the Corvallis girls hosted Loyola and won 2-0 with goals from Abi Buoy and Shyanne Watt.
On Thursday, Oct. 5th the Stevensville boys defeated Frenchtown 5-2. Stevensville’s David Beames had 5 goals with Evan Montague assisting on all 5 of the goals.
The Stevensville girls also played Frenchtown and won 4-0. The Lady ‘Jackets had goals from Addison Nobi, Madigan Hurlbert, and Kami Brewer. Then on Saturday, Oct. 7th, the girls defeated Loyola 3-2, with goals from Holly St Germain, Ryan Grover, and Claire Uskoski.
Playoffs to begin
The Class A soccer playoffs are set to begin on Saturday, Oct. 14th. There are three divisions of Class A Soccer: the North, the South, and the East. Corvallis, Hamilton, and Stevensville are all in the South division. This year the South only gets two teams into the State tournament, the South’s #2 and #3 teams play a “play in” match to decide the South’s #2 seed moving into the eight team State bracket.
The Hamilton girls earned the South’s #1 seed, finishing 8-0 in conference play. They host the #2 seed from the North, Columbia Falls, on Saturday, Oct 14th at 1 p.m.
For the girls’ “play in” game, #2 Stevensville hosted #3 Corvallis on Monday, Oct. 9th (scores not available at print time). So either Stevensville or Corvallis will host the East’s #2 seed, Lockwood, on Saturday, Oct 14th.
The Corvallis boys earned the South’s #1 seed, going 5-0-1 in conference play. They host the #2 seed from the North, Columbia Falls, on Saturday, Oct. 14th at 11 a.m. The two teams tied 2-2 earlier this year on Sept. 2nd.
For the boys’ “play in” game, #2 Hamilton hosted #3 Stevensville on Tuesday, Oct. 10th. So either Hamilton or Stevensville will host the East’s #2 seed, Lone Peak, on Saturday, Oct. 14th.
