Golden Agers

If you are a senior citizen and are bored, looking for fun or just want something new to experience, attend and enjoy good food, live music, dancing and fellowship. Cost is $5 per couple and $3 per single. Snacks are potluck. Exercise classes are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. Blood pressure is checked every first Wednesday of the month. Also on the first Wednesday of every month a potluck is held at 12:30 p.m. followed by the business meeting. Card parties are held on the second Wednesday at 7 p.m. On the last Wednesday of the month a birthday party is held at 2 p.m.

Bereavement Support Groups
When you grieve the death of a loved one, you sometimes hide it so others think you’re over your sorrow and loss. Marcus Daly Hospice offers an opportunity to share grieving experiences and grow from them. For anyone in the community dealing with the loss of a loved one, a bereavement support group meets Tuesday afternoons from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Marcus Daly Hospice Center living room. Spanish conversation group
Habla Espanol? Do you travel? Do you work with Latinos? Do you just want to keep your mind sharp? If you are a beginner or just a bit rusty, join the Stevi Spanish Conversation Group at the North Valley Public Library Wednesdays from 6 to 7 pm to brush up on your Spanish language skills. This is not a class to learn to speak Spanish. It will be an informal, weekly gathering to practice speaking the Spanish language. Veteran-to-Veteran (V2V) meetings
The V2V outreach group meets every Friday morning at 8 a.m. in the backroom at BJ’s Restaurant in Hamilton. These informal meetings are for all veterans. Many veterans have both unresolved and resolved issues from their experiences in the military that impact their lives. At the meetings participants can discuss whatever they want and the outreach group gives veterans an opportunity to get together to share information and talk about issues. The Bitterroot Chapter #938 of the Vietnam Veterans of America meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at 319 N. 3rd. Vietnam era veterans often need assistance with problems and issues and many have similar stories. Marcus Daly Hospice sponsors a Men’s Bereavement Support Breakfast on the second and fourth Friday of each month at 9 a.m. in the Marcus Daly Hospice Dining Room. This breakfast creates a special opportunity for men coping with the death of a spouse or loved one to gather and share their journey of healing. Informal discussions are led by a trained Bereavement Facilitator and address such issues as dealing with grief, loneliness, forming new relationships, single parenting. Quilt show
Quilters are invited to participate in the Quilt Show sponsored by the Sapphire Quilt Club on July 13 and 14 at the Stevensville High School. The purpose of the club is philanthropy and education. Its “Sunshine Quilt” project is the club’s main project. Members create and give away quilts to people in the Bitterroot Valley who have a personal tragedy such as illness, accident, fire, etc. This is a big year for the town of Stevensville. The theme of the July show is “Bringing Country Home.” Stevensville will celebrate the following milestones this year: 100 years of 4H; 100 years of the Creamery Picnic; the 200th birthday of Father Ravalli; 170 years of celebrating Founder’s Day (September 23rd). This year, the above categories have been added to the quilt show. Quilters will want to get started early if they want to enter a quilt in one (or more) of these categories (total number of categories available is 29). Daly Mansion Youth History Camp
The Daly Mansion is now accepting registrations for its annual Youth History Day Camp taking place June 25-28. This year’s theme is Montana People & Places and is for youth entering 4th through the 8th grades (fall of 2012). Campers will explore and discover life in the Bitterroot Valley during the past 100 years through a variety of activities such as becoming reenactors, playing and leading younger children in 19th century lawn games, a day trip to the Ravalli County Museum, activities with special guests from Traveler’s Rest State Park, and a mini-workshop on fly fishing. Veterans Benefit Walk/Run
The 1st Annual Veterans Benefit Walk/Run (5k/10k) will be held Saturday, July 28 at The Canyons Athletic Club, 472 Tammany Lane in Hamilton. Daly Mansion Sunday tours
The Daly Mansion Preservation Trust is starting a new series of special Sunday tours every Sunday throughout the summer season entitled My Favorite Things. These tours will feature Daly Mansion Tour Guides’ favorite Mansion objects and stories. Attendees with find out about items that are normally not on display and will have the opportunity to hear stories that past visitors may have never heard before. Children’s theater workshop
The Stevensville Playhouse is offering a Children’s Summer Workshop July 23-August 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. There are openings for 15 children, ages 7-16. The workshop will include acting, set building, costuming and some lighting. Cost is $100 per child. For more information 360-9121.
Darby school summer meal program
The Darby School District is offering a Summer Food Service Program again this summer. From now until Friday, August 24, the lunch room will be serving breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday. The meals are for all children age 18 and younger at no cost. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 11 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Darby lunch room will be serving made from scratch items and local fresh fruits and vegetables. Breakfast and lunch is available to adults as well for a small cost.
