May 13, 1940 – October 13, 2022
I’ve lived 82 years of the most wonderful life imaginable. So, I hope no one feels too sorry for me.
Growing up, our family had a great opportunity to camp for about 10 weeks in the summer in the Adirondacks, from grade school to high school, just rowing, fishing, and swimming in tranquil bays where the sound of engines was seldom heard.
That was followed by several years of enjoyable ski racing in high school, Paul Smith College, and UM.
Then came several years working trail in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, completing a master’s thesis, a survey on the users of the Bob Marshal Wilderness, in 1964.
Top this backcountry service off with a season as backcountry ranger in Sequoia King’s Canyon National Park.
Also had many nice ski mountaineering trips in the Bob during these early years.
Most of you are aware of the hundreds of river trips I’ve enjoyed since I first started kayaking in 1990.
It’s also been an extreme pleasure to raise four fine sons and watch as the family grows with the addition of four fine grandsons, and soon to be one great grandson.
Pam and I have been happily married for 25 beautiful years; we met on the Middle Fork and married on the Selway.
So, again, don’t feel too sorry for the glorious life I’ve so enjoyed.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Henry and Millie Crispin Bradt; brother George Bradt.
