The Lady Falcons knocked off the defending Class A champion Polson Pirates on the first day of the Frenchtown Invitational Tournament. With Courtney Byrne pitching, Florence allowed only two runs while scoring six to take the non-conference win. Byrne also had two RBIs and went 1-for-2 at bat. Hayley Cole was perfect at bat, hitting 3-for-3 including an RBI. Paige Bodner and Macayla Cole also had RBIs. Polson had three errors in the game while Florence had one.
The Lady Falcons then played Stevensville in another non-conference match. Florence jumped out to an early lead with four hits in the first inning. They continued to hit the ball well and built up a 7-2 lead at the end of four innings. But Stevensville didn’t get down on themselves and came back to hit seven runs in the final two innings to take a 9-8 victory. Alycia Sims hit a home run that scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the win. The Byrne sisters, Courtney and Megan pitched the game for Florence with Megan taking the loss. She also had two RBIs. Courtney Byrne was 2-for-3 at bat. Sims pitched her first game for Stevensville and notched the win. Sims was 2-for-4 with a total of three RBIs. Megan Elam had two RBIs and was 2-for-4. Jenna Lockman went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Bailey Vercruyssen hit 3-for-4 and had an RBI.
On Saturday, the Lady Falcons split their games. They lost to the undefeated Frenchtown Broncs, 6-1. Courtney Byrne was the pitcher for Florence. Paige Bodner had a double for the Lady Falcons to lead them in hitting. She was 2-for-4 at bat. The Lady Falcons then topped Corvallis, 6-5. Megan Byrne was the pitcher in this game for Florence. Courtney Byrne went 2-for-3 at bat and Cody Miller was 1-for-2. Josie McCann, Kyla Hill and Scotley Pederson also had RBIs for the Lady Falcons. Corvallis’ Alex Ewing had two RBIs. The Blue Devils also had RBIs from Miquela Kriskovich, Ashley Johnson, and Markie Montgomery.
On Saturday, Stevensville lost to Libby, 16-9, and then topped Whitefish, 16-2. Sims was the pitcher for the Lady ‘Jackets against Libby. Cambrea Beller went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Bailey Vercruyssen had a double, as did Carly Vercruyssen who was 2-for-4 at bat.
Carly Vercruyssen was Stevensville’s pitcher against Libby. She allowed only five hits in the game. Megan Finley had a double and five RBIs. Emalie Lewis had two RBIs along with Sims. Beller knocked a triple in the game also.
Hamilton lost a close game to Libby, 13-11. The Loggers had an early lead but Hamilton battled back in the fourth and fifth innings. Rebecka Hood began as pitcher but Kaytlyn Menk came in and relieved her in the fourth inning and took the loss. Freshman Taylor Goligoski led the Lady Broncs with four RBIs, a home run and a double. She was perfect at bat, hitting 3-for-3. Tayler Reynolds was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and Hood had an RBI as well. The Lady Broncs also lost to Belgrade, 10-4, on Friday. Goligoski again had a home run and had an RBI. Reynolds also had a homer with an RBI.
Hamilton lost to Polson, 10-7,on Saturday. Kaytlyn Menk took the loss for the Lady Broncs. Rebecka Hood was 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. Goligoski had two RBIs and was 2-for-4 at bat. In Hamilton’s second game of the day, the Columbia Falls WildKats defeated the Lady Broncs, 12-5. Rebecka Hood and Goligoski each had doubles and two RBIs each.
On Friday, Libby defeated Corvallis, 13-6. Alex Ewing pitched a complete game for the Blue Devils and took the loss. Alex Price hit two of four and had a home run for Corvallis. The Blue Devils lost to Columbia Falls, 8-3, on Saturday. Tegan Elliot went 2-for-4 and Erika Allen was also 2-for-4. Schrock, Kriskovich and Ewing all had RBIs for the Blue Devils.
