Lady Broncs advance to state

The Lady Broncs of Hamilton finished in third place at the Western A Divisional in Butte over the weekend. They will now advance to the Class A State tournament in Great Falls at the Expo Center. They will play Havre, the No. 2 seed from the East at 9am on Wednesday, March 3.

Hamilton opened against Whitefish on Thursday in Butte. The Lady Broncs jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter. They were able to hold off a charge by Whitefish in the third quarter and went on to win, 44-39. RyleeBrackman and Layne Kearns each had 11 points for Hamilton.

Hamilton –  Rylee Brackman 11; Layne Kearns 11; Maggie Ringer 10; Katelyn Dickemore 6; Mya Winkler 6.

Whitefish – Brook Smith 18; Gracie Smyley 8; Ashton Ramsey 5; Erin Wilde 5; Makenna Ells 2; Jadi Walburn 1.

The win over Whitefish put Hamilton in the semi finals against Ronan. The two teams battled but Ronan eventually pulled ahead in the second quarter and went on to win, 54-32. Katelyn Dickemore finished with 10 points to lead the Lady Broncs.

Hamilton – Katelyn Dickemore 10; Rylee Brackman 9; Layne Kearns 6; Maggie Ringer 4; Mya Winkler 2; Maria Kanewisher 1.

With the loss, Hamilton had to play Saturday morning in loser out action. The Lady Broncs came out strong in the first three quarters and had a fifteen point lead. However, Dillon was not giving up and put up 21 points in the final frame of the game. Hamilton held them off and went on to win, 48-37. Kearns finished with 16 points.

Dillon – Ainsley Shipman 15, Lauryn Petersen 6, Halle Fitzgerald 5, Jordyn Walker 4, Madalen Shipman 3, Evey Hansen 2, Sydney Petersen 2.

The Lady Broncs played again at 5pm in the consolation game where they met up with Whitefish again. Both teams were tired but Hamilton was fired up and put up 11 points in the first quarter. They went on to win, 31-28.

Dillon – Ainsley Shipman 15; Lauryn Petersen 6; Halle Fitzgerald 5; Jordyn Walker 4; Madalen Shipman 3; Evey Hansen 2; Sydney Petersen 2.

The Hamilton boys team opened against Polson on Thursday at the Western A Divisional at the Civic Center in Butte. Hamilton built an early lead but couldn’t hold on in the second half. Polson went on to win, 40-37.

Polson – Colton Graham 17; Jarrett Wilson 9; Trevor Lake 6; Xavier Fisher 4; Darian Williams 3; JC Steele 1.

Hamilton – Austin Drake 10; Tanner Hanson 8; Eli Taylor 6; Tyler Burrows 6; Liam O’Connell 5; Jack Ellis 2.

The Broncs played Libby in loser out action on Friday. They put up 19 points in the first quarter and cruised to a 53-35 win.Austin Drake had 13 points to lead Hamilton.

Saturday morning, the Broncs met up with Butte Central. Again, Hamilton jumped out to an early lead but then went cold in the second quarter and only scored three points. Butte Central went on to win, 49-38.

Hamilton – Austin Drake 20; Liam O’Connell 9; Eli Taylor 5; Tanner Hanson 2; Tyler Burrows 2.
